The Witcher 3 May Test Players with a New Romance Option
Both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and the Songs of the Past expansion were announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. Now, a new gameplay demonstration by CD Projekt Red has revealed a little more about the expansion’s characters. Lilla, Dandelion’s cousin, in particular, has caught players’ attention. Introduced with a rebellious attitude, it’s not yet confirmed whether this character will offer a new romance option for Geralt.
The Witcher 3 May Offer a New Romance with Lilla
The new gameplay demonstration includes a moment where Geralt interacts with Lilla and chooses to hug her. Following this scene, the developers were directly asked whether the character would offer a romance option. Fool’s Theory CEO Jakub Rokosz stated that they wanted players to discover this for themselves and didn’t want to spoil the surprise.
This answer alone isn’t a definitive confirmation, but the team isn’t explicitly saying “no” either. Therefore, the possibility of Lilla being a new romantic option for Geralt seems quite strong. Furthermore, the fact that a member of the development team refused to hug Lilla on stage and stated they were on “Team Yen” side has further fueled the debate.
Player reactions are already quite clear. A large portion of The Witcher community has considered the relationship between Yennefer and Geralt to be the strongest pairing in the series for years. Therefore, if Lilla is indeed offered as a romantic option, the new expansion could put players to the test not only in terms of story but also in terms of loyalty.
It was previously announced that Songs of the Past will connect the period between The Witcher 3 and The Witcher 4. Therefore, Lilla’s role in the story may not be limited to romance. Her family connection to Dandelion and her rebellious personality could make her one of the expansion’s key figures. For now, CD Projekt Red or Fool’s Theory haven’t officially confirmed a romantic option. When Songs of the Past is released next year, it will finally become clear whether players will remain loyal to Yennefer.
