Scarlet Witch’s Sister Has Been Revealed
While Scarlet Witch has a different backstory in the MCU, she’s portrayed with a much more complex family story in Marvel comics. Although the bond between Wanda Maximoff, Pietro Maximoff, and Magneto has changed over the years, this family circle remains one of the most intriguing aspects of the mutant universe. Now, news of a new cast member from X-Men ’97 has brought this connection back to the forefront.
Polaris to Appear in X-Men ’97 Season Two
Voice actress Carolina Ravassa confirmed on Instagram that she will be voicing the character Polaris. Ravassa is particularly known for her performance as Sombra in the Overwatch game. Known as Lorna Dane in the Marvel universe, Polaris is a mutant who, like her father, possesses magnetic powers.
This casting choice was somewhat surprising due to previous rumors. Beau DeMayo, the former showrunner of X-Men ’97, had previously linked Neve Campbell to the role of Polaris, a claim Campbell later denied. The new announcement confirms that Carolina Ravassa will be the official voice of the character.
Polaris is expected to be part of the X-Factor team in season two. This team is a government-backed mutant group and could play a significant role in protecting Earth after the X-Men members are scattered through time. There are also promotional images suggesting the character might later approach the X-Corp side.
On the live-action side, the picture remains unclear. Since Wanda, played by Elizabeth Olsen in the MCU, isn’t positioned as Magneto’s daughter, a sisterhood between Polaris and Wanda seems unlikely to be explored in the main universe. However, rumors of Avengers: Doomsday don’t completely rule out the possibility of seeing Magneto, Wanda, Pietro, and Polaris in the same story across the multiverse.
