Silver Pines Release Date Announced
Silver Pines, a game developed by Team17 and Wych Elm, has confirmed its release date. Combining Metroidvania-style exploration with survival horror, the game will be released on October 8th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch, and PC. Available on Steam and the Epic Games Store, a PC demo is already available to players.
Silver Pines Invites You into a Dark Town
Silver Pines centers on private detective Red Walker. Walker arrives in a dilapidated American town that appears to have been hastily abandoned, and soon finds himself embroiled in a darker affair after receiving a mysterious phone call. The only clear message on the phone is “Find Eddie Velvet.” From this point, players will gradually try to uncover the town’s secrets.
At its core, the game features a classic survival horror structure. Players will progress with limited resources, solve puzzles, and either fight or flee from threats encountered in the town. The limited inventory space makes every bullet, healing item, and upgrade more valuable, creating a familiar tension for fans of old-school horror games.
On the Metroidvania side, locked doors, hidden paths, and new routes unlocked through exploration are prominent features. Instead of following a straight line, Silver Pines encourages the player to constantly return, search for new clues, and re-examine previously inaccessible areas. This structure makes the town feel both complex and dreamlikely unsettling.
Visually, hand-painted atmospheres, rotoscope animations, and neo-noir influences are noteworthy. This style could help Silver Pines look far more than just a typical horror town. If Wych Elm balances the pace of exploration and resource management well, Silver Pines could be one of the year’s most intriguing indie horror games upon its October 8th release.
