South of Midnight, the new game of Compulsion Games, the developer of We Happy Few and Contrast, has been announced. South of Midnight, whose cinematic trailer has a very secret structure, was announced on the Xbox Showcase. He gave a little more information in an interview he published on his Xbox blog and said that the character Hazel introduced in the trailer is a third-person action-adventure genre game about tracking down supernatural creatures spreading around the world. While the cinematic trailer is quite mysterious, it contains some South American influences with touches of magical realism.
South of Midnight video released
The game is inspired by the more interesting geological, topographical, cultural, social and historical areas of South America, publisher director David Sears said in his Xbox blog post. South of Midnight will be the studio’s first game since We hapy Few, the 2018 survival horror game by IGN rated 7.3 by Compulsion, the studio founded by former Arkane Studios developer Guillaume Provost. Although a release date is yet to be announced, South of Midnight appears to be available at launch for Xbox Series X/S, PC and Game Pass.
The skeleton-like man playing the guitar in the trailer is called Weaver. According to the opening, Hazel, full of abilities, will fight and subdue dangerous creatures. He’ll untie his own family and ties to his own past, and if he’s lucky, he’ll find his way to a new place that feels like home.
