Splitgate Team is Working on Empulse, a Project with the Spirit of Titanfall
1047 Games, known for Splitgate, may be working on a very different kind of action-packed shooter experience. According to the source text, the studio’s new game, Empulse, stands out as a title carrying the spirit of Titanfall. Still in pre-alpha, the closed-loop gameplay footage showcases fast movement, wall running, grappling hook usage, and massive mech battles.
Empulse May Offer Fast Movement and Mech Battles
According to information shared about Empulse, the game focuses on fast-paced combat in a team deathmatch format. Players can quickly move around the map using grappling hooks, run on walls, and keep the tempo of the fight high thanks to boost pads. This structure provides a familiar setting for those who enjoy action-oriented shooter games like Titanfall and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
The most striking detail is the giant mechs usable on the map. The footage shows a player dominating a match inside a mech with a Gatling gun. This mech is also said to have a protective shield and a missile attack with a cooldown. Whether there will be different mech types or different ability sets is unclear for now.
1047 Games CEO Ian Proulx previously stated that a small team was working on a new movement shooter inspired by Titanfall and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. It appears Empulse is this project. The game’s visual tone also seems to have shifted from Splitgate’s brighter arena style to a more serious and modern look.
For now, it’s unknown whether Empulse will be a paid or free-to-play title. The release date is also unclear, but it’s rumored that the game could be officially announced sometime this year. Considering Titanfall fans have been waiting for a new game for years, Empulse could find a strong following if it makes the right moves. However, since the game is in pre-alpha, we need to approach all the details with caution.
