Switch 2 GameChat Limit Is Unrealistically Long
One of the most striking innovations that came with the Nintendo Switch 2 was the GameChat feature. The fact that there is a special button for this feature on the Joy-Cons shows that Nintendo attaches great importance to this area. However, users must register with a valid phone number in order to use this service. In addition, a new discovery has revealed an unusual restriction regarding the GameChat system.
Switch 2 GameChat Has a 24-Hour Limit
According to NintendoSoup’s YouTuber Nathaniel Bandy, the Switch 2’s GameChat feature is limited to a 24-hour period. In other words, when you complete 24 hours in a session, the system automatically removes you from the chat. This limit is not related to the profanity filter; it is applied as a direct time-dependent restriction.
This situation is an interesting detail for users who usually prefer long-term gaming sessions. The system reminds the player that the time is up by giving warnings at the last 30 minutes, 5 minutes and 1 minute. However, when the limit is exceeded, the chat is automatically disconnected.
Fortunately, this limit does not prevent you from starting a new GameChat after closing the session. Players can restart the session and re-invite their friends. Considering the stricter restrictions Nintendo has implemented in the past, this 24-hour limit does not seem to be a practical problem for the vast majority of users.
Nevertheless, such details of the Switch 2, which was initially released with a limited game library, bring about interesting discussions in terms of user experience. It is a matter of curiosity whether GameChat will stretch its limits with more advanced versions in the future.
