The Elder Scrolls: Blades, released in 2020, was one of Bethesda’s ambitious attempts at mobile gaming. Bringing the classic dungeon exploration structure to mobile platforms, it offered a unique alternative, especially for fans of the series. However, after all these years, the game is preparing to be completely shut down.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades Closes on June 30th

According to a statement from Bethesda, The Elder Scrolls: Blades will be completely shut down on June 30, 2026. The game has already been removed from platforms such as Google Play, the App Store, and the Nintendo eShop. This means that new players can no longer access the game, while existing players can only continue playing until the closing date.

As the game nears its end, players are being offered a small “farewell opportunity.” All in-game items have been reduced to symbolic prices. Almost all content can be accessed for 1 Gem or 1 Sigil. Furthermore, these currencies are being generously distributed to players, aiming to allow them to experience all the remaining content during the game’s remaining time.

The reason behind Blades’ closure is largely its failure to meet expectations. The microtransaction system, in particular, received heavy criticism during its launch, with many players considering the game “pay-to-win.” This made it difficult for the game to build a strong player base in the long term.

Meanwhile, the wait continues for the Elder Scrolls universe. There is still no clear date for the new main game, and all eyes are now on the next major project. While the closure of Blades has removed one option on the mobile side, the real excitement for fans of the series still lies in the upcoming big release.
