According to Richard, while a sequel might be technically easier, it doesn’t make much sense for the players. He states that they don’t want a community that has invested time and money in the game for years to start from scratch. This approach offers a clear perspective on the frequently debated “sequel or update” question, especially in live service games.

Another important point is the technical side. Taking the game to a completely new level might require more powerful hardware, risking alienating a portion of the existing player base. Instead of taking this risk, the team prefers to “bring the existing game to the next generation.” In other words, the goal isn’t to start from scratch, but to continue improving the existing structure.

When all these explanations are put together, the roadmap for Dead by Daylight seems quite clear. Instead of a new game, we can expect a period where the existing structure will continue to be updated for years to come.
