The First in-game Screenshots for Fragmentary Order have been Revealed
Fragmentary Order, developed by Rant Gaming, led by Nikita Buyanov, known for Escape from Tarkov, stands out as an ambitious science fiction shooter game. Announced approximately two months ago, the title is now making headlines with the first images taken from within the game engine. Developed on Unreal Engine, the game aims to be more than just a classic Tarkov-like experience, both in terms of visual detail and large-scale gameplay.
Fragmentary Order Will Offer a Bigger and More Comprehensive Experience
Nikita Buyanov specifically emphasizes that the game should not be seen as a space version of Escape from Tarkov. While Fragmentary Order has a session-based structure, it will not follow a direct extraction shooter formula. A more flexible system is planned, where players can spend one or two hours on a single mission, whether clearing an area or trying to survive for a long time.
The game’s first region is called Blue Mars and takes place on a partially terraformed Mars. According to Buyanov, this map will be approximately five times larger than a typical Tarkov map. On the story side, Mars, once an advanced colony controlled by a large corporation called COR3, has been plunged into chaos by the rise of a new power called PCF. Players will infiltrate the region through clone operators to gather resources, clues, and materials.
Fragmentary Order will offer a PvPvE-focused experience and will include a PvE-focused mode at launch. The size of the maps is expected to allow 40 to 50 players to battle simultaneously. This will be complemented by local enemies, drones, and various environmental threats. Features such as vehicle use, controllable units, and more open-ended sandbox mechanics are also planned.
Rant Gaming is aiming for good performance, a strong network infrastructure, and smooth interactions for the initial playable version. Buyanov says they don’t want to repeat the technical problems experienced with Escape from Tarkov and therefore are allocating more time and budget in the early stages. No specific date has been given for the testing phase yet, but the studio aims to create a large-scale, realistic science fiction experience with Fragmentary Order that will endure for many years to come.
