Warning posters around the set state that some important items, including brooms, are being tracked with microchips. This allows for daily monitoring of the location of the props.
It’s said that not only brooms, but also other props like magic books, pumpkins, and wands are being tracked. Posters state that permission from the Props Department is now required to remove any props from the designated area. This is intended to prevent items from being taken off-set without authorization.
According to a source close to the production, HBO executives are quite upset about the situation. It’s even claimed they are checking to see if any lost items are being sold on platforms like eBay. If someone is found to have taken props without permission, they could face serious penalties and even be fired.
This development also shows how large and complex the production process of the series is. HBO recently renewed the Harry Potter series for a second season. The first season is expected to air this Christmas, with episodes running until 2027. However, due to the intensity of filming and post-production, there are talks of long gaps between seasons.
