The Long-Awaited Update for Black Ops 6 is Finally Coming

The long-awaited change for Black Ops 6 is finally coming. Since its release, players have been forced to use the Call of Duty HQ app to access the game, a situation frequently criticized, particularly for large downloads, complex menus, and unnecessary file loads. Activision is preparing to change this structure with the new update, making the Black Ops 6 experience simpler and more straightforward.

Black Ops 6 Leaves Call of Duty HQ

According to Activision’s announcement, Black Ops 6 will separate from Call of Duty HQ and become a standalone game starting July 7th. The update will go live around 7 AM. After this date, users who own the game will be able to re-download the new standalone version and launch Black Ops 6 directly.

With this change, older content tied to Black Ops 6 mods within the main Call of Duty installation will be automatically removed. This is expected to free up storage space for players. This is a significant improvement, especially for users who have complained about the massive file sizes of Call of Duty HQ.

Call of Duty HQ was originally designed to centralize games in the series and Warzone. While seemingly practical on paper, the system backfired for many players. Accessing new games became difficult, download processes became confusing, and users felt burdened with content they didn’t own.

The separation of Black Ops 6 shows that Activision hasn’t completely ignored these criticisms. The company previously took a similar step for Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3. Call of Duty HQ isn’t disappearing entirely, but players will now be able to manage their purchased game more independently. This could be one of the most sensible quality improvements Black Ops 6 has received in a long time.
