The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu Gameplay Trailer Released
Nacon and ACE Team have shared a new six-minute gameplay video for The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu. The cooperative survival and psychological horror game will offer a dark exploration story set during the Conquistador era. Players will attempt to survive on an island that appears to be filled with treasures but is instead plagued by cosmic horrors.
The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu Focuses on Co-Op Horror
The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu will be an experience entirely based on co-op gameplay. Players will form teams of two to four to explore and attempt to complete different contracts each time. These tasks include collecting treasure, finding a missing person, locating an ancient fortress, and, if possible, surviving and returning to the ship.
Each exploration will require players to make careful decisions with limited inventory and basic weapons. Instead of direct aggression, the game emphasizes avoiding conflict, staying on the defensive, and team coordination. As exploration lengthens, the creatures on the island will become more numerous and dangerous, forcing players to move quickly but cautiously.
One of the game’s most significant threats won’t be just physical enemies. Characters will begin to lose their sanity due to the cosmic horrors they encounter. During this process, players may experience hallucinations; an ally may appear as a monster, a seemingly safe area may turn into a deadly pit, or surrounding plants may appear alive. This psychological pressure will constantly test trust within the team.
Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s understanding of cosmic horror, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu will explore themes of exploration, survival, and madness. The new gameplay video more clearly showcases the game’s atmosphere and team-oriented nature. The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu will be released on July 15th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
