The Saros Star has Debunked a Fan-Favorite Theory

Saros, with its mysterious narrative and ambiguous character relationships, became one of the productions that left players with many questions. The bond between Arjun and Sebastian, in particular, was interpreted in different ways by some fans and critics who finished the game. However, Saros star Rahul Kohli clarified one of these popular theories, significantly weakening the romantic relationship interpretation favored by fans.

The Saros Theory Sparks Debate Among Players

The game portrays a tense, guilt-ridden, and highly personal bond between Arjun and Sebastian stemming from the past. Sebastian’s position in the story led some players to believe he might not just be an old friend or coworker, but a secret romantic lover from Arjun’s past. The dialogue in certain scenes and the character’s guilt seemed to support this interpretation.

Rahul Kohli, in an interview, stated that neither he nor David DeSantos, who plays Sebastian, were given any romantic subtext during the filming of these scenes. According to the actor, the question “What were you to me?” wasn’t about a romantic relationship, but rather how Arjun was coping with and justifying the death of a friend. While Kohli didn’t completely reject this interpretation, he clearly stated that he didn’t play the scene that way.

This explanation has revived a debate frequently seen in stories open to interpretation like Saros: on one side is the intention of the creative team or the actors, and on the other are the personal meanings the actors derive from the story. Since Saros’ narrative already progresses through ambiguity, guilt, and fragmented memories rather than direct answers, it’s quite natural for such theories to arise.

While Kohli’s explanation may have disappointed some fans, the theory hasn’t been completely dispelled. Because Saros’ strength lies partly in the actor’s ability to fill in the gaps with their own interpretation. While romantic relationships may not be the official intention, the tension between Arjun and Sebastian seems likely to remain one of the most talked-about emotional layers of the game.
