Wizard101 is finally coming to consoles
Wizard101 has offered a colorful and magical world that has been loyally followed by PC gamers for years. Now, it’s consoles’ turn. KingsIsle Entertainment has confirmed that the game will be coming to PlayStation and Xbox systems. This move marks the arrival of a nearly two-decade-long adventure, entering a new era. Console players will have the opportunity to enter the Wizard101 universe for the first time.
Wizard101 Meets Console Players
Wizard101’s release date for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S has been announced as October 9, 2025. No specific date has been given for the Nintendo Switch version, but it has been announced that the release will be slightly later. The console version’s launch trailer has also been released, showcasing how the game will bring its magical atmosphere to the console world.
With the game’s arrival on consoles, the free-to-play areas have been expanded. The PlayStation and Xbox versions will include updated free content, including the Oasis region of Krokotopia. However, players will need to purchase a subscription to access the full story. The Switch version will use a different system, with the first story arc included for $19.99.
Since its release, Wizard101 has often been compared to MMORPGs like World of Warcraft and has been highlighted by its Harry Potter-like structure. Players, as magic students, summon creatures in card-based battles, wield elemental powers, and face enemies in fantasy lands called Spirals. The console release aims to bring this experience to a wider audience.
Despite not receiving major expansions in recent years, Wizard101 has managed to maintain a loyal player community. The game is expected to revive in popularity with its console release. Considering the lack of multiplayer options, especially in magic-themed games like Hogwarts Legacy, Wizards 101’s arrival on consoles could fill a significant void. KingsIsle aims to bring together both old and new fans with this move.
