Xbox May Have Changed It’s Mind About Gears of War for E-Day

Gears of War E-Day has become the center of platform discussions ahead of the Xbox Showcase. Xbox’s recent strategy of bringing its exclusive games to different platforms like PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 has created similar expectations for the future of the Gears series. However, according to a new claim, Microsoft may have changed its mind at the last minute about bringing Gears of War E-Day to PS5.

Gears of War E-Day PS5 Plan May Have Been Rejected

Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb made a striking claim about Gears of War: E-Day during the second day of the GB at Nite broadcast. According to Grubb, the game was planned for PS5 at one point, but this plan is no longer valid. He even suggested that this decision was made very recently, just before Xbox’s big presentation. This statement suggests that Xbox may be more selective about some games in its strategy of opening up to third-party platforms.

The Gears of War series has been considered one of the strongest exclusive titles for the Xbox brand for years. Therefore, the question of whether E-Day will come to PS5 isn’t limited to just one game. The discussion extends to whether Xbox will completely abandon its exclusive game concept in the future, or whether it will still keep some major brands within its ecosystem.

Interestingly, it was recently claimed that a PlayStation listing for Gears of War: E-Day was seen at Walmart. This listing strengthened expectations that the game might come to PS5. However, if Grubb’s statement is accurate, Xbox may have changed its plans at the last minute and moved the Gears series back to a more exclusive position.

The Xbox Showcase will be one of the most important events of the new CEO Asha Sharma era. Gears of War E-Day is expected to feature prominently in this presentation, followed by a special in-depth demonstration. Therefore, the game’s platform strategy, release date, and place within the Xbox ecosystem may become much clearer in a short time. Gears of War E-Day has become one of the most crucial events for understanding Xbox’s exclusive game policy.
