Zotac to Sell RTX 5000 on Discord
The stock shortages in the graphics card market and scalpers raising prices continue to put gamers in a difficult situation. However, Zotac is trying an innovative method to bring the RTX 5000 series graphics cards to real users. The company plans to sell the graphics cards directly to gamers with a priority access campaign organized on Discord. So how will this application work?
RTX 5000 Sales on Discord
Zotac has engaged the Discord community to protect the RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards from scalpers and bring them to real users. The company will prioritize active and loyal Discord users for this campaign. Users will need to interact on the server and complete certain “tasks” to participate. However, low-effort messages or fraudulent methods will not be accepted. Zotac will use a random number generator to determine the winners to make this process fairer.
This innovative method aims to prevent graphics cards from being purchased by bots or scalpers. It is also stated that Zotac will track serial numbers to prevent abuse during the sales process after determining the winning users and will disclose users in case of violations.
Although the campaign was received positively by gamers, it was also announced that stocks are quite limited. There are currently only 5 RTX 5080 AMP Extreme INFINITY and 5 RTX 5080 SOLID OC models. The RTX 5090 is currently out of stock. This situation once again shows how high the demand for graphics cards is.
This application, which Zotac runs via Discord, is considered a promising step for gamers to have fair access to graphics cards. However, it is currently unclear whether the stock shortage will continue and whether other brands will implement similar methods.
