2K Games Removes Launcher from PC Games
There has been an important development in the gaming world: 2K Games has completely removed its launcher from all PC games on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Popular 2K titles such as the Bioshock series, Mafia Trilogy and Civilization games will now be available to run directly from game stores.
2K Games’ Decision to Remove Launcher
The removal of launchers has long been a topic of discussion among gamers. 2K Games has taken this step to prioritize the user experience. Now, beloved titles like Bioshock Remastered, The Quarry, and Marvel’s Midnight Suns can be launched without any additional interface.
This is a huge relief, especially for gamers who have been experiencing performance issues and find it unnecessary to use an extra launcher. However, one small detail stands out for XCOM 2 players. Users who launch the game via the desktop shortcut will have to use the Steam Client to activate the mod options.
2K Games’ decision sets an important example in the industry. Big companies like EA and Ubisoft still use forced launchers in many of their games. However, 2K Games proved that it has a player-friendly policy by removing launchers altogether.
