A Fully-Fledged RPG Game has been Created Within Fortnite
Developed within Fortnite and called Aetheria, this project offers much more than a classic mod. Emerging after three years of development, this experience stands out as an open-world RPG built entirely from scratch. Moreover, it’s not just a visual transformation; fundamental RPG elements such as the quest system, leveling mechanics, and map structure are fully integrated into the game.
A True RPG Experience Within Fortnite
ColiSushi, the name behind Aetheria, didn’t just design a map; he essentially created a new game. A vast and diverse world awaits players, from medieval villages to snow-covered regions, from beaches teeming with giant crabs to areas adorned with cherry blossoms. All of this structure was created from scratch using Fortnite’s creative tools.
The most striking aspect of the project is its unique systems that work seamlessly with the multiplayer infrastructure. In an interview with Dexerto, the developer explicitly states that the most challenging part was making these systems multiplayer compatible. Recreating the level system, quest structure, and map layout from scratch required significant effort, especially on the technical side.
Initial player reactions also highlight the unique experience the project offers. Many say it’s one of the most original pieces of content they’ve seen in Fortnite. Some players even suggest that the idea of Fortnite completely transforming into an MMORPG seems more realistic thanks to this project.
Aetheria isn’t a one-off experiment; it’s a continuation of the same developer’s previous projects. However, this time the goal is much bigger, resulting in something truly different.
