A GTA 4 Player Doesn’t Understand Why Rockstar isn’t Making a Remaster
Despite being one of the most beloved games in the series, GTA 4 still hasn’t received a remastered version for modern consoles. Jason Zumwalt, who voices Roman Bellic in the game, shares the fans’ expectations. The experienced actor stated that he would be very happy to see a possible remaster project and that he doesn’t understand why Rockstar hasn’t undertaken such a project yet.
Why Hasn’t a GTA 4 Remaster Project Been Prepared Yet?
In an interview, Jason Zumwalt shared his thoughts on a possible remaster version of GTA 4. The voice actor for Roman Bellic stated that he definitely wants to see a remastered version and that Rockstar has a good opportunity. Although it’s thought that the company may have shifted its focus to the new game due to the approaching release of GTA 6, rumors of a GTA 4 remaster have remained on the agenda for a long time.
Zumwalt suggested that the project’s failure might be linked to past actor contracts. He believes that re-emerging SAG (Socialist Actors’ Association) agreements, which bind the voice actors, could create a complicated process for Rockstar. This possibility also brought to mind past statements made by Michael Hollick, who played Niko Bellic, regarding his payment.
Michael Hollick revealed that he earned approximately $100,000 for over a year of work on GTA 4, criticizing this amount when compared to the game’s commercial success. However, Zumwalt noted that he and Hollick were later called back for the game’s expansion packs. Therefore, it’s not certain whether past disagreements have completely blocked a potential remaster project.
The actor who played Roman Bellic also stated that he considers GTA 4 to have the best story in the series. According to Zumwalt, the game’s narrative is more personal and intimate compared to other GTA adventures. There is no official statement from Rockstar regarding a GTA 4 remaster project. Whether the company will consider such a version will likely become clearer after the release of GTA 6.
