God of War Fan Discovers New Phranque Traces in Ragnarok
God of War fans continue to delve into the hidden details of the series’ Norse epic. This time, a blue cube discovered in God of War Ragnarok has been linked to Phranque, the character who will accompany Laufey on his new adventure. While the discovery is thought to be no coincidence, it has also revived claims that Faye’s story was planned from the very first games.
God of War Ragnarok May Have Given a Preliminary Hint for Phranque
A player noticed a striking painting while examining the secret-filled Vault of Tyr in God of War Ragnarok. The blue cube seen in the painting bears a strong resemblance, both in shape and color, to Phranque, who is introduced as Laufey’s companion. What seemed like an ordinary environmental detail before the new game’s announcement may have gained significance with the character’s appearance.
The blue cube isn’t the only detail supporting the theory. A spear next to the painting features a blue jewel, similar to the one used in visual designs for Laufey. The presence of these two interconnected elements in the same area has led to speculation that the developers may have deliberately included a reference to Phranque and Laufey.
Players also point out that the symbol used in Laufey’s new game appears on the character’s ashtray and in Kratos’s temple. According to information on the PlayStation Store, this symbol represents a phoenix. While the meaning of this symbol, associated with rebirth, in Faye’s story is still unknown, its placement in different games suggests a long-term narrative plan.
It was previously revealed that Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Laufey, was informed about the project in 2018 and that the main visual design shown to her at that time remained largely unchanged. Therefore, the possibility of the blue cube in God of War Ragnarok being added randomly is considered unlikely. However, since there has been no official confirmation from the development team, the Phranque connection remains a strong fan theory for now.
