Assassin’s Creed Invictus Project at Risk

While much attention in the Assassin’s Creed world is currently focused on Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft has other plans for the series. One of them is Invictus, a multiplayer project that has been known to be in development for a long time. However, recent rumors suggest that this project, expected to bring the Assassin’s Creed universe back to a PvP-focused multiplayer arena, is not progressing smoothly.

Claims of Cancellation for Assassin’s Creed Invictus

xj0nathan, known for Assassin’s Creed leaks, claims that the playtest process for Invictus, completed last month, went very poorly. According to the claim, the results from the tests were far below expectations, raising the possibility of the project being delayed or even canceled. Invictus was expected to be released in 2026, but Ubisoft has not yet announced a specific date.

This isn’t the first negative rumor about the project. Previously, it was claimed that some developers didn’t trust Invictus and were dissatisfied with the game’s current state. Of course, such leaks shouldn’t be considered definitive information, but the emergence of multiple similar rumors increases player anxiety.

Ubisoft, however, has previously stated its commitment to Invictus and that the project isn’t as the rumors suggest. The company said they want to involve the community earlier in the development process by prioritizing player feedback. They also emphasized that the team is passionate about the project and that their goal is to offer a different experience within the Assassin’s Creed universe.

For now, it’s unclear whether Invictus is truly at risk. However, considering Ubisoft’s canceled projects in recent years and the challenging live-service landscape, these rumors can’t be completely ignored. With Black Flag Resynced set to be released in July, Ubisoft is expected to clarify its Assassin’s Creed plans more clearly.
