Counter-Strike 2 Germany Shows Case Contents

Valve has made a significant change to Counter-Strike 2 following increasing criticism of the loot box system. Players in Germany can now see what items will be inside a case before opening it, thanks to the newly added X-Ray Scanner feature. This move comes especially after discussions about the loot box system having gambling-like mechanics.

X-Ray Scanner System Implemented in Counter-Strike 2

Thanks to the new system, players in Germany can scan the contents of a case before opening it. This allows players to see what skin they will encounter before buying a key to open the case. In theory, this feature eliminates the idea that case opening is entirely based on luck and allows players to know what they are spending money on beforehand.

However, the system has an important condition. After a crate is scanned with an X-Ray Scanner, the player must purchase the item displayed in the scanned crate before they can scan another crate. In other words, after seeing the contents, the player must open the crate and take the item. Otherwise, a new crate scan cannot be performed.

Furthermore, scanned crates lose their trade value. Crates scanned with an X-Ray Scanner cannot be sold or traded on the Steam Community Market. This means the system could be economically disadvantageous for some players.

Valve’s change is seen as a step taken in response to increasing legal pressure on loot box systems. However, it is not yet known whether the X-Ray Scanner will be implemented in countries outside of Germany. Nevertheless, this move has sparked new discussions about the future of the crate system in Counter-Strike 2.
