Dead Island 3 Target Selected
While there has been a long period of silence regarding the future of the zombie-themed action series, a significant development has emerged from the Dead Island 3 camp. Dambuster Studios, the developer of the series, shared the targeted release window for Dead Island 3 in its newly released financial report. This statement indicates that the game’s development process has now entered a more concrete phase.
Dead Island 3 Development Process Gaining Momentum
According to the report, Dead Island 3 is planned for release in the first half of 2028. This timeline points to a period approximately between April and October 2028. The studio aims to shift its entire focus to Dead Island 3 after the completion of current projects. The team, currently consisting of 194 developers, will be entirely dedicated to this project after the Luna and Mac versions of Dead Island 2 are completed.
The report also states that some parts of Dead Island 3 have entered the early production phase. Specifically, work on gameplay systems, characters, world design, and story is said to be accelerating. This indicates that the game is no longer just an idea, but has entered a concrete development process.
The specified release window suggests that Dead Island 3 could be planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, as well as for the next-generation consoles expected to be released around 2028. This suggests the game is being developed with a long-term vision in mind.
Dead Island 3 isn’t new to the studio. Previously, during the 14th anniversary of the series, it was announced that Dead Island 2 had reached 20 million players, emphasizing that the journey wasn’t over yet. Images showing a character leaving Los Angeles strengthened the possibility of a new location in the third game.
This clear timeline, following a long and problematic development process, has once again raised expectations for Dead Island 3. The game is expected to be revealed with more details in the coming years.
