First Stills Released from Resident Evil Movie
The first images from the new Resident Evil movie have finally emerged. Filming is underway in Prague’s Karlin district, bringing the streets of Raccoon City back to life. The photos feature vehicles with Colorado license plates and snow-covered scenes. Directed by Zach Cregger, the film is set for release in 2026 and will be a special celebration of the series’ 30th anniversary.
Resident Evil Returns to Raccoon City in a Winter Theme
New set photos confirm that a significant portion of the film’s story will take place in Raccoon City. Snow-covered streets, police cars with Colorado license plates, and city signs suggest the film will maintain its classic atmosphere. Filming is also reported to have continued until 3 a.m., a fitting choice for Resident Evil’s fearful and suspenseful atmosphere.
According to details shared by The Prague Reporter, filming took place in Prague between October 29th and November 2nd. Residents were informed in advance that explosive action scenes would be shot throughout the night. This suggests the film will feature fast-paced scenes.
Director Zach Cregger aims to maintain the intense atmosphere in this film, following his recent success with “Weapons.” Unlike traditional adaptations, the film will draw direct inspiration from the games, but it won’t be a one-to-one story adaptation. This aims to provide a fresh experience that will appeal to both new audiences and longtime fans.
It has not yet been confirmed whether Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine, two of the most beloved characters from the Resident Evil series, will appear in the film. However, the return of Raccoon City has raised strong hopes among fans that these characters may also appear. The first trailer for the film, which is set for September 18, 2026, is expected to be released before the end of the year.
