The initially calm atmosphere quickly transforms into a chaotic and bloody struggle for survival.

The trailer offers brief glimpses of different zombie types. The large, shapeless creature seen in the sewers, hordes of zombies attacking from different directions, and blood-soaked locations suggest the film will be visually quite harsh. The scene where zombies fall from rooftops and rain down on a character in a narrow street particularly suggests the director is trying to create a more striking and disturbing horror narrative.

It was previously reported that the initial footage shown at CinemaCon received positive reactions. Now, the trailer’s release to the general audience provides the first real impression of what kind of Resident Evil interpretation the film will offer. It seems the production isn’t entirely avoiding action, but is placing more emphasis on gore, panic, and survival tension.
