Highguard has fallen silent just days before its release

Highguard garnered attention with its unexpected announcement at the Game Awards 2025, but now, just days before its release date, there’s been a serious silence. The fact that a game we’d barely heard of before is being released so soon is already surprising, but the development team’s almost complete lack of promotional activity is further increasing the uncertainty surrounding the game.

Highguard Disappears After Announcement

Highguard was announced in a “final announcement” slot, particularly emphasized by Geoff Keighley, a slot usually reserved for major games released years later. Despite this, the imminent release date for Highguard instantly raised expectations. However, weeks have passed without a new trailer, gameplay video, or developer statement.

Wildlight Entertainment, the studio behind the game, has been almost completely silent on social media. Aside from a few interactions on the day the teaser trailer was released, the lack of updates has raised questions among players about whether the game is truly ready. The relatively low number of followers makes this silence even more noticeable.

The community is divided in opinion. Some players argue that it’s normal for an independent studio to leave the announcement to the last minute, while others believe it’s unusual for a game featured on a major stage like the Game Awards to remain so in the background. This silence is seen as risky, especially in a time when first-day performance is crucial for live service games.

The real question for Highguard is whether this silence is a conscious marketing choice or a sign of trouble. The lack of reminders to players even so close to release lowers expectations. If a strong first impression isn’t created, Highguard could face much greater difficulties after launch.
