Huawei Freebuds 5i review with Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Apple iPhone 11

First of all, when we look at the design of the headset, we have to say that it comes with a very stylish charging case. The model I used has dark tones. In terms of design, I can say that it looks like marble and pebbles with its dotted structure. It has a smooth surface and a stylish look.

The box, which is charged with a Type C cable, has a reset button on the side and you can do the classic reset and pairing through this button. Since it uses Bluetooth 5.2 standard, it connects very fast. I tried it on both Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Apple iPhone 11 without any problems. Of course, it is possible to pair the headphones directly, but you need to use the AI Life app to take advantage of the extra features.

When we take the headphones out of the box, we see that they have a brighter design than the box. Huawei is increasing their design ability and quality. The headphones have a short body structure and rubber covers. In other words, in addition to active noise canceling, we also get passive noise canceling. The Huawei logo is also on the body of the headphones.

The magnet structure in the box is strong but not hard enough to make you struggle. The headphones fit snugly into the box and come out easily. Of course, these headphones have touch control features, including volume. In addition to features like classic song skipping, the ability to adjust the volume by swiping is a nice advantage.

Earphone Charging Case

Huawei Freebuds 5i is 18% lighter than the previous model. The company actually aimed to offer a good sound experience with an affordable headphone in the 4i model. In the Freebuds 5i model, they came out with an affordable price according to the features it has, but I have to say that it is at a much better level in terms of features. In other words, it has a sound quality that will leave many high-end headphones behind.

Although the new model has a lighter structure, it has a better capacity of battery performance. Again, it has a 60% better battery capacity compared to the previous model. Each earphone has 55 mAh and the charging case has 410 mAh. With this battery capacity, a total of 30 hours of use is offered. Honestly, I forgot the last time I charged it while using it. Only the headphones offer a playback experience of around 7 hours. Of course, when you activate noise canceling, this time can be reduced by an hour.

At this point, charging time is also very important. Because even in 15 minutes of charging time, the company managed to achieve these times. It takes 90 minutes to fully charge the headphones. Since this falls below 100 minutes, we can say that it gives us a very good performance. Incidentally, this headset does not support wireless charging. When it has very good features, I can honestly say that I started looking for this feature.

With a 10 mm dynamic driver and a polymer composite diaphragm, this headset really does a good job in terms of sound quality, especially at mid and high frequencies. On the deep bass side, of course, it is not as ambitious as the Pro model, but it has a sufficient performance for its price.

On the noise cancellation side, there is support for three different modes. The active noise cancellation is already good enough to cut outside noise to the maximum. You can also turn off noise canceling completely through the app or put it in awareness mode to prevent you from being completely disconnected from your surroundings. There are also three different settings for the noise cancellation mode: general, comfortable and maximum.

You can also adjust settings such as bass and treble boost via the app. The noise canceling performance may not be the best, but it’s very good for the price. So much so that, as I said, it can compete with headphone models with much higher prices.

Conclusion

As a result, the Huawei Freebuds 5i model has come a long way, especially compared to the previous version. Such headphones are usually offered at a more affordable price for users who can’t afford the Pro model and don’t change much from the previous generation. In this model, Huawei has almost overcome this tradition and created a product that can compete with many better priced headphones.

Huawei Freebuds 5i, which you can use very comfortably while doing sports with its IP54 rating, has managed to be a model that stands out with its active noise canceling performance, HarmonyOS software, fast connection, sound quality, control comfort and design.
