Huntdown Overtime Announced for PC
Known for its high-action gameplay, the Huntdown universe returns with a different formula. HUNTDOWN OVERTIME, from Coffee Stain Publishing and Easy Trigger Studios, has been officially announced as a prequel to the series. While the familiar harsh atmosphere of the first game is preserved, this time the gameplay takes a more experimental and replayable approach.
HUNTDOWN OVERTIME Stands Out with its Roguelite Structure
UNTDOWN OVERTIME differs from the classic Huntdown formula by adopting a roguelite structure. Players witness the origin story of John Sawyer, a bounty hunter on crime-ridden streets, becoming part of a cycle of death and rebirth with each run. Each failed attempt contributes to the progression system, allowing the character to return stronger.
The game prioritizes fast-paced and intense combat. Inspired by VHS-era action films, the gameplay combines high-tempo gunfights and close combat. Each run progresses through different enemy locations and routes, requiring players to make split-second decisions to survive. This structure aims to make the HUNTDOWN OVERTIME experience unique every time.
One of the most striking elements of the game is its cyber-rebuilding system. John Sawyer is rebuilt after each death with mechanical limbs and experimental modifications. Thanks to permanent upgrades, players can shape the character’s play style and start each new run with different advantages. Weapon licenses and equipment options also support this system.
On the visual side, hand-drawn pixel art is combined with modern lighting techniques. This style, reflecting an 80s B-movie aesthetic, reinforces HUNTDOWN OVERTIME’s harsh and dark tone. The game aims for an early access release on Steam for PC in the second quarter of 2026.
