Netflix Confirms Peaky Blinders Sequel

Peaky Blinders, a global fan favorite, is returning. Steven Knight’s new project will be set in 1953 Britain and will feature the next generation of the Shelby family. The sequel, announced in partnership with Netflix and the BBC, is planned for two seasons. Each season will consist of six episodes and will revitalize the series’ legendary atmosphere.

According to the official announcement, the story takes place in the post-World War II bombed-out Birmingham during its rebuilding process. The new series, which follows the city’s rise from steel and concrete, will see the race to embrace this transformation escalate into a bloody struggle involving the Shelby family. Steven Knight described the project: “This new episode will tell the story of Birmingham’s rebirth from the ashes. The next generation of the Shelby family will be at the helm, and the journey will be unforgettable.”

The new series is being produced by Kudos (SAS Rogue Heroes, House of Guinness) and Garrison Drama. Filming will take place at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham. Original series star Cillian Murphy will be contributing to the project as an executive producer instead of the lead role. The cast is currently being kept under wraps, but excitement is already building.

According to confirmation from Netflix and the BBC, each season will consist of six 60-minute episodes. In addition to Knight and Murphy, the project also features Karen Wilson, Martin Haines, Jamie Glazebrook, Jo McClellan, Danielle Scott Haughton, Mona Qureshi, and Toby Bentley as executive producers.

Another anticipated project is the Peaky Blinders film, scheduled for release in 2026. The film, titled “The Immortal Man,” sees Cillian Murphy reprise his role as Thomas Shelby. The film, which also stars Stephen Graham, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan, is directed by Tom Harper.
