New Survival Game Hello Sunshine Introduced
Hello Sunshine brings an unusual warmth (!) to the survival genre, inviting players to struggle for survival under a merciless sun. Red Thread Games’ experienced team of just seven has crafted a barren world reminiscent of Fallout, placing the mechanics of sun and shadow at the heart of the game. The scorching heat of the day, and the cold and mysteries of the night, lend the game a thrilling yet intriguing atmosphere.
What Awaits Us in Hello Sunshine?
The most striking aspect of Hello Sunshine is the sun’s very presence as an enemy. Your character is constantly threatened by heat, thirst, and sunlight. Therefore, shadows are no longer just atmosphere; they are a life-saving refuge. Moreover, you often exploit these shadows by exploiting the movement of a massive robot. It advances, and you cling to its shadow, trying to survive⦠but the robot doesn’t wait for you; you must pace yourself accordingly.
The exploration element is crucial in the game. Leaving the shadows briefly to find water, gather supplies, or explore ruins carries significant risk. As the sun begins to set, the shape, length, and direction of the shadows change, making it essential to plan every move. You might think, “If I just go a little further, there’s something over there…” But losing the robot shadow spells disaster.
Hello Sunshine also features plenty of action. Enemies are mostly robots with different behaviors. While your bow might not feel particularly powerful at first, the crafting system allows you to turn your early weakness into an advantage by crafting different types of arrows. You can choose to play aggressively or be more cautious, avoiding combat.
At night, a completely different world opens up. When the sun disappears, your robot rests, and you spend time at a service station repairing your equipment, crafting new items, and collecting pieces of the story. The mysterious characters you encounter around the campfire gradually reveal the Sunshine company’s dark past. The true storyline of the game unfolds in these nighttime sequences.
Hello Sunshine offers both solo and co-op play. While the narrative focuses on single-player, co-op with a friend is recommended to re-experience the game from a different perspective. Weather conditions and sun effects change as you traverse different biomes, requiring you to develop new tactics in each region.
