Splitgate 2 Returns with a New Name
Splitgate 2 had a rocky start, both with fan backlash and a controversial launch, but things are now turning around. 1047 Games has stripped the game down and completely revamped it, stripping away problematic systems, bringing back beloved mechanics, and reborn the project with a brand new identity: Splitgate: Arena Reloaded. This December release aims to recapture the franchise’s spirit and fully meet the community’s expectations.
What Will Splitgate: Arena Reloaded Offer?
Splitgate: Arena Reloaded completely ditches the factions and skill-based gameplay that were initially criticized in Splitgate 2. The game now aims to deliver a much purer, classic arena FPS experience. The studio says it’s retained the fast pace of Splitgate 1 while culling the elements that worked well from Splitgate 2, creating a completely overhauled structure. The goal is clear: portals, fast-paced battles, and level playing field.
Arena Reloaded is also quite ambitious in terms of content. Five new maps have been added to the game, while six existing maps have been completely redesigned. These reworks have significantly improved map flow, portal positions, and competitive balance. Three new primary weapons and a powerful new power weapon, the Railgun, are also joining the arena.
Gameplay modes have also been significantly expanded. In addition to the new Arena modes, the Classic Arena experience returns, and players will now have a playlist system where they can choose exactly the modes they want. The “even-start” mode, which lacks abilities or special loadouts, will be particularly welcomed by competitive players who insist on a level playing field.
One of the most talked-about improvements 1047 Games has made to Arena Reloaded is the complete simplification of progression and the economy. The battle pass system has been made more intuitive, store prices have been lowered, and the distribution of cosmetics has been made more player-friendly. The studio’s goal is for players to experience a more fair and clear flow of rewards within the game.
