According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures has begun talks with producer Neal H. Moritz for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. Sources indicate that the studio is looking to expand the franchise, which currently holds full ownership, into a more expansive entity. The new management under Skydance is reportedly reassessing existing IPs, with TMNT being prioritized in this process.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the new live-action film will not replace the 2027 release of Mutant Mayhem 2. Sources confirm that the animated sequel is proceeding as planned. Meanwhile, the cancellation of the Mutant Mayhem spin-off series Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has led to speculation that the live-action side of the franchise will be revitalized.
Paramount’s other TMNT intellectual properties are also undergoing a reassessment process. Sources indicate that a hybrid live-action/CGI project based on The Last Ronin comics has been “put on hold.” Studio sources report that they have postponed the project until later, stating that an R-rated story aimed at adults wouldn’t be the right opening for them at this time.
