Silent Hill f May Be Coming to New Platforms
Silent Hill, the legendary horror game series, may not be limited to the next generation. An update on Konami’s official website indicates that Silent Hill f will also be released for Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. While no official announcement has been made yet, this leak clearly reveals that the game won’t be limited to next-gen players.
Konami Wants to Reach a Larger Number of Players with Silent Hill f
A list in the “Games” and “Platform” sections of Konami’s website indicates that Silent Hill f could be released on older systems as well as current-gen consoles. The list includes platforms such as PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, as well as iOS and Android. This expansion confirms the company’s desire to further increase its sales success.
Konami recently announced that Silent Hill f has surpassed 1 million units sold worldwide. The company appears to be aiming to double this figure with its new platform expansion. A launch strategy specifically for this platform could be a logical move, especially with the Switch 2 approaching.
The game’s story takes place in 1960s Japan, in a small mountain town called Ebisugaoka. Players control Shimizu Hinako and discover the town’s dark secrets. The game, notable for its “grotesque yet aesthetic” atmosphere, intensifies the horror experience thanks to its powerful 3D sound design. The game also features five different endings, each with its own unique gameplay.
Silent Hill f, written by Ryukishi07, creator of the Higurashi series, features music by series veteran Akira Yamaoka. Therefore, expanding to new platforms could open up the experience to more players, not only from a commercial but also an artistic perspective.
There’s currently no official confirmation from Konami. However, the platform listing on its website and recent sales data suggest Silent Hill will soon be back on both new and existing consoles. An announcement alongside the Switch 2 seems almost inevitable.
