Sony is Considering AI Podcasts with PlayStation Characters
A new patent from Sony has brought to light an idea that could spark debate in the gaming world. According to the company’s published application, Sony has begun evaluating podcast formats specifically designed for PlayStation players, generated by artificial intelligence and presented by familiar game characters.

Players will be able to listen to game news, updates, and personalized recommendations in the voices of some of PlayStation’s most recognizable characters, such as Kratos or Ellie. It’s even stated that the system could capture a personal tone, capable of delivering jokes tailored specifically to the player.
From a technical standpoint, this approach shows Sony’s plan to integrate large language models (LLMs) more deeply into the PlayStation ecosystem. The AI is designed to analyze player data and deliver a podcast experience supported not only by audio but also by video, trailers, and images.
However, this idea raises serious questions. The patent text does not clearly state how voice actors who bring the characters to life will be represented or what copyright model will be applied in this use of AI.
