The Batman 2 Script will be Terrifying
While anticipation for The Batman 2 continues, Colin Farrell made some noteworthy statements about the film. The actor, who gained significant attention for his portrayal of Oz Cobb/Penguin in both The Batman film and the HBO series The Penguin, stated that he will only appear in two scenes in the sequel. Despite this, Farrell described the script, written by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, in very strong terms.
The Batman 2 Will Have Less Screen Time for Penguin
Colin Farrell stated that he read the script for The Batman Part 2 from beginning to end and was very impressed by it. According to the actor, the sequel will not only have a dark atmosphere; it will also offer a psychologically heavy, layered, and at times frightening structure. Farrell believes that Matt Reeves has strongly established both the emotional aspect and the level of suspense in this new installment.
The most striking detail in Farrell’s statements was the role of the Penguin character in the film. The actor stated that he will only appear in two scenes in the sequel. This presents a very different picture after the character’s central role in The Penguin series. Farrell, however, welcomes this limited role positively and says he will enjoy the rest of the film as a viewer.
The focus is expected to shift to other characters in the sequel. New cast members reportedly include Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry, and Sebastian Koch. It’s particularly rumored that Sebastian Stan will play Harvey Dent/Two-Face, while Johansson is rumored to be playing Gilda Dent. This suggests the Dent family could play a significant role in the story.
Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the sequel. He is expected to be joined by Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. The Batman Part 2 is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 1, 2027. Farrell’s comments suggest the film will further deepen the somber crime atmosphere of the first installment.
