The First Full Trailer for Avengers Doomsday Has Been Released
Avengers Doomsday has received its first full-length trailer following previously released short character introductions. The approximately two-and-a-half-minute video brings together heroes from different eras of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the same story. The trailer also hints that the upcoming battle will be much broader in scope than previous Avengers films.
Doctor Doom Makes an Appearance in Avengers Doomsday Trailer
The trailer begins with brief glimpses of returning X-Men characters, and for the first time, shows Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., in detail. His Latveria accent is heard for the first time, and new clues about Doom’s face and armor are offered. The trailer continues with Thor warning the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and Avengers members about the magnitude of the impending threat.
Doctor Doom’s power is highlighted in a brief confrontation scene with Thor. Thor’s attack with Stormbreaker is easily blocked by Doom. This moment suggests the character will be positioned as even more powerful than previous major threats like Thanos, Ultron, and Loki. It appears Marvel Studios is preparing to present Doom as an almost unstoppable enemy.
One of the trailer’s notable surprises is the return of Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans. Appearing when Thor says they need a miracle, the character joins the team in more casual clothes. Loki is also seen on the Avengers’ side this time, while Shang-Chi, the Fantastic Four, the new Captain America team, the Wakandan heroes, and former X-Men members all come together in the same fight.
Avengers: Doomsday features a star-studded cast including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Florence Pugh, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film is set to be released in theaters on December 18, 2026. The story will then continue with Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. The release of the trailer is expected to mark a new phase in the film’s promotional campaign once tickets go on sale.
