The Neverness to Everness Team Responded to the AI Controversy

Neverness to Everness, upon its release, managed to capture the attention of gacha and open-world game enthusiasts. With over 90 million pre-registrations, the game generated great anticipation and quickly became one of the most talked-about games globally. However, recent claims that some visual assets in the game use artificial intelligence have sparked debate on social media.

Neverness to Everness Team Re-examines Assets

In a statement made via the game’s international social media account, Hotta Studio emphasized that Neverness to Everness is built on human creativity. The studio stated that the characters, story, and world were created by artists, writers, and designers. This statement aims to convey the message that AI was not used, particularly in the elements that constitute the game’s core identity.

Despite this, the team acknowledged that some AI-powered tools were used in a limited way. According to the statement, these tools were only used on a small number of background and environmental assets. Characters, the main story, and core content defining the game’s identity were excluded from this process. In short, the studio argues that the use at the center of the controversy was limited to minor environmental details.

Hotta Studio also stated that some content pointed out by players is being re-examined and revised. Assets such as “Clear Skies in Summer” and “Pink Paws Heist” are being reviewed, and rework will be done where necessary. The studio said they are following feedback from the community and taking the process seriously to deliver the quality players expect.

The use of artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly sensitive issue in the gaming industry. Concerns such as job loss, copyright, environmental impact, and artist labor are fueling player backlash. Neverness to Everness’s statement may not completely end the debate, but Hotta Studio is at least directly responding to the allegations and revising content deemed problematic.
