Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Release Date Announced
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis has made a comeback with a new trailer released at the PlayStation State of Play presentation, finally receiving its long-awaited release date. Developed by Crystal Dynamics in collaboration with Flying Wild Hog, the game aims to reinterpret the series’ 1990s origins with modern technology. Previously rumored to be delayed, the game will now be released on February 12, 2027.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Coming in 2027
The new trailer more clearly shows both the story tone and Lara Croft’s return for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. The game will not only revamp the first adventure that laid the foundation for the series, but will also present it with a completely reworked narrative. Crystal Dynamics describes the project not as a simple remaster, but as a true reinterpretation of the original game. This naturally raises expectations even higher.
The fact that the game is being developed with Unreal Engine 5 suggests that the classic Tomb Raider atmosphere will return with a much more modern and cinematic visual style. While preserving Lara’s old spirit based on exploration, puzzles, and action, the goal is to offer a smoother and more up-to-date experience for a new generation of players. The trailer also shows this renewed atmosphere, particularly strong in terms of ancient locations and the sense of adventure.
There’s a slight disappointment regarding the release date. The game was expected to coincide with Lara Croft’s 30th anniversary, but the postponement to 2027 has disrupted that plan. Nevertheless, the announcement of a clear date is good news for long-awaited fans. It has also been confirmed that the game will be released in three different versions and that those who pre-order will receive 48 hours of early access.
The new Lara Croft voice will be Alix Wilton Regan. This marks a new era following Camilla Luddington, who voiced the character since the 2013 reboot. The inclusion of the Survivor Outfit costume among the pre-order bonuses is also a nice nod to the 2013 era. If Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis strikes the right balance between nostalgia and modern gameplay, Lara Croft’s return could be quite powerful.
