Valve Imported Thousands of Game Consoles, or Did They?

Valve is maintaining its official silence regarding the Steam Machine, but there may be some activity behind the scenes. While a release date for the new home console, previously reported as delayed, has not yet been announced, new shipment records from China suggest the company is importing large quantities of gaming hardware and accelerating preparations for a potential launch.

Valve May Be Preparing Stock for the Steam Machine

VR content creator Brad Lynch claimed that new gaming hardware has begun accumulating at Valve facilities. Subsequently, shipping records emerged, supporting this claim. The documents show a large number of gaming-focused products shipped from China to Valve in late April and early May. Calculations based on the weight and contents of the containers suggest the possibility of more than 15,000 Steam Machines or even more Steam Frame VR headsets.

Of course, it’s not certain that these products are exclusively Steam Machines. The shipments could also be related to new Steam Deck OLED stock. Valve recently announced that it was working hard to restock the handheld console. However, the shipment data, which appears different from the company’s normal ordering pattern, suggests to some sources that this could indicate a new product influx.

This development is even more noteworthy after the Steam Controller quickly sold out. The new $100 controller went out of stock shortly after its release and was listed at much higher prices on second-hand platforms. This interest suggests there may be significant demand for Valve’s new living room hardware.

For now, since there’s no official statement from Valve, the whole picture is based on possibilities. However, if the company has indeed started stocking up on Steam Machine and Steam Frame, we may see a more concrete announcement in the summer or fall. For Steam users who want to bring PC gaming to their living rooms, these shipment records could be a strong signal that the long-awaited hardware move is approaching.
