Verdansk Return to Call of Duty: Warzone Delayed to 2025
A new report has revealed important information about the return of Call of Duty: Warzone‘s iconic map Verdansk. Originally announced in late 2023, Verdansk was expected to return in 2024. However, these plans seem to have changed.
Verdansk’s Return Date and Reasons for Postponement
Verdansk is scheduled for release in “early 2025” for Call of Duty: Warzone, Insider Gaming reports. Activision was previously targeting December 2024, but it looks like that date will now be missed. It’s unknown why there’s a delay for Verdansk, but one possible reason is that Activision wants to coincide the map’s return with a time when more players can participate.
The report also points to Activision being inspired by the success of Fortnite OG. Released in late 2023, Fortnite OG was a limited-time game mode featuring the original Fortnite map and weapons, and gained immense popularity. Epic Games’ mode reached an all-time high number of concurrent players. Activision is hoping to ride a similar wave of nostalgia by adding Verdansk to Warzone.
It’s still unclear what Call of Duty: Warzone will offer for the rest of 2024. Last week, the Season 4 Reloaded update was released, bringing new content and meta changes to the game. Season 5 of Warzone appears to be on the horizon and will lead up to the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which is expected to release in October. When BO6 arrives, big changes are also expected in Warzone, but details on what those changes will be are not yet clear.
