What is the Secret of GTA 6’s Mysterious Tower of Leonida?

The giant tower seen in the background of the first trailer released for GTA 6 has remained one of the most intriguing structures for players for years. Initially thought to be an ordinary object appearing larger than it is due to a visual error, smoke, or perspective, the structure has resurfaced with new screenshots. Materials shared by Rockstar Games largely confirm that the tower will indeed be located on the Leonida map.

GTA 6 Leonida Tower Could Be a Broadcasting Mast

The tower is visible on the horizon near Vice City just two seconds into the first GTA 6 trailer. Due to its extraordinary height, players were long disagreed on whether the structure was a real building. While some argued it was a technical display issue, others suggested the design resembled a large communication mast that transmitted radio or television signals.

A screenshot later released by Rockstar Games showed the same structure again, revealing that this wasn’t a coincidental visual. The tower’s similar placement in various promotional materials suggests it will be a permanent part of the Leonida world. The prevailing opinion within the community is that the structure is a broadcasting or communications tower.

Leonida’s strong inspiration from Florida also supports this theory. South Florida has radio and television masts taller than most surrounding skyscrapers. For example, the WCIX Tower in the area reaches approximately 550 meters in height. It’s speculated that the massive structure seen in GTA 6 could be a fictional version created by Rockstar, inspired by such real-world broadcasting towers.

The main question for players is whether the tower will be merely a backdrop or fully explored and climbable. Many fans plan to climb to the top to enjoy the view of Vice City and parachute down. However, whether the Leonida tower in GTA 6 will be accessible remains to be seen. Rockstar Games has also not made an official statement about the purpose of the structure or its role in gameplay.
