Xbox is now full screen on Windows 11

Full-screen support, which makes the Xbox experience more natural on PC and closer to a console-like experience, has been added to Windows 11. This update, presented as one of Microsoft’s steps to strengthen Xbox integration, is currently available to Windows Insiders and is considered a significant step for Xbox.

Xbox Full-Screen Support Now Available for Testing in Windows 11

According to information shared by the Windows team, Xbox full-screen support was enabled with Insider Build 26220.7271. Switching to full-screen mode in the Xbox app hides the desktop interface, allowing users to view games seamlessly, just like on consoles. Xbox sources state that this update aims to make the experience more fluid, particularly for Game Pass users.

Switching to a full-screen experience can be done from the taskbar or by pressing the Win + Tab combination. According to technical notes shared by Xbox, users will be able to keep multiple games open simultaneously and switch between them with a controller. This is said to be particularly useful for gamers with a strong game-switching habit.

Microsoft has not yet announced a date for the feature’s wider rollout. Company sources state that the feedback process will continue, and performance and interface stability will be determined through testing. Following Insider feedback, full-screen support is planned to be rolled out to all Windows 11 users.

The Xbox ecosystem’s stronger transition to PC demonstrates the gradual reduction of platform boundaries in gaming culture. According to gaming commentators, this integration will further close the experience gap between consoles and PC. With Xbox’s expansion into Windows, the way players access their game libraries is also significantly changing.
