8BitDo FlipPad Release Date and Price Announced
After a long wait, the 8BitDo FlipPad has finally received its release schedule and price information. Developed to transform smartphones into portable gaming devices used vertically, the controller stands out with its foldable design and direct connection support. Although the manufacturer hasn’t yet released an official product page, shared information indicates that the device will be available for pre-order soon.
8BitDo FlipPad Brings Foldable Design to Mobile Gaming
According to shared information, the 8BitDo FlipPad will be available for pre-order on July 15, 2026, and the first orders will begin shipping on July 30. The dates have not been directly announced by 8BitDo. Therefore, it is possible that the company will announce a different schedule depending on the region when the sales page opens.
The controller is reportedly priced at $30. While this is an approximate price based on current exchange rates, the Turkish retail price is not yet known. The FlipPad is preparing to launch with a lower starting price than its competitors, such as the GameSir Pocket Taco and Abxylute M4 Snap-On, which have similar foldable designs.
Unlike competing products that connect via Bluetooth, the 8BitDo FlipPad plugs directly into the phone’s USB-C port. The controller then folds over the screen in a manner similar to the handset of old flip phones. It features directional buttons, ABXY buttons, Select and Start buttons, as well as six white control buttons.
The 8BitDo FlipPad will be compatible with Android phones and iPhone models with USB-C ports. Initially, only a single retro-looking color option will be offered. 8BitDo has not yet announced different colors or additional versions, but considering the company’s past products, it seems possible that new designs will be introduced in the future.
