A Developer has Converted Diablo 2 to an FPS Using UE5
Diablo 2 has been known for its isometric gameplay for years, but this time it’s stepping outside its usual form. The project, developed by solo developer Mark under the name “I Make Games,” brings the classic structure to a first-person perspective using Unreal Engine 5. The first leaked images show that the project is more advanced than we initially thought.

The shared gameplay footage clearly shows how iconic abilities like Fireball and Teleport work from an FPS perspective. In addition, the character’s new movement mechanics, such as sliding and climbing, reveal that the project isn’t just about changing the camera angle. The developer specifically states that at this stage, they are focusing more on establishing the foundations of the systems rather than visual effects.
Another demo revealed important details about the game’s interface. Classic Diablo elements like the XP bar, skill slots, potion system, and stamina bar are featured in their FPS format adaptations. This shows that the project isn’t just a visual experiment, but a serious effort is being made to build a solid gameplay structure.
There’s another interesting detail on the technical side. It’s stated that some of the character models used in the project were generated using artificial intelligence. This is described as a temporary solution and will be replaced with more refined entities in the future. The developer also shared that they are working on different systems such as a fragmentation system, teleportation through walls, and a third-person mode.
There is no clear release plan for this project, which is still in its early stages of development. However, the shared videos and devlog content give a strong idea of what Diablo 2 might look like in a different genre. Mark says he will continue to share the process transparently and will also release the background code for those interested in the technical details.
