AFTERSHOCK Creates a Blooming Gaming Laptop Worth $14,200

The Cherry Bloom, created by AFTERSHOCK, is already quite an unusual gaming laptop with a price tag of approximately $14,200, but its most striking feature is the 70 handcrafted cherry blossoms inside the case. Made from a heat-responsive titanium alloy, these blossoms physically open as the system heats up under load and close again when the computer cools down. Moreover, this movement is achieved without the use of motors, electrical mechanisms, or any other powertrain.

All 70 titanium blossoms inside the Cherry Bloom can open during intensive use. In the system demonstrated by AFTERSHOCK, the tree remains closed at around 18 degrees Celsius. While the exact temperature at which the blossoms begin to open is not specified, it is stated that they gradually open as the temperature rises during gaming or heavy workloads.

The computer is built on an APNX V2 chassis, and the 270-degree glass design allows the flower mechanism to be easily viewed from the outside. In terms of hardware, it features an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, a Zotac GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card, 64 GB DDR5-6000 RAM, a 2 TB PCIe Gen4 SSD, and a 1300W Platinum power supply.

On the cooling side, a special open-loop liquid cooling system is used. While it’s normally preferable for a computer to run as cool as possible, the Cherry Bloom reverses that slightly. The more intensely the system works, the more prominently the decorative tree inside the case blossoms.
