Bad News for Those Waiting for New DLC for Cyberpunk 2077

The science fiction RPG game Cyberpunk 2077 had largely recovered over the years with updates and the Phantom Liberty expansion. However, a new statement has emerged for players who were hopeful about the game’s future. CD Projekt RED has officially confirmed that there are no plans for a new DLC or expansion pack for Cyberpunk 2077.

No New DLC Plans for Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt RED’s statement came after an announcement regarding the game’s arrival on Xbox Game Pass. A player on social media asked if a secret DLC was being prepared for the game. The official Cyberpunk account then gave a very clear answer.

CD Projekt RED has announced that there are no plans for a new DLC or major expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 following the Phantom Liberty expansion released in 2023. The announcement specifically emphasized that not only paid expansions but also large-scale free content are not planned.

This announcement came as no surprise to some players. After its troubled launch in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 underwent a long development process focused on fixing technical issues. During this time, some planned content was cancelled. There were even leaks in the past suggesting a DLC set on the Moon was being considered.

It is known that the development team is currently focusing entirely on the future of the series. CD Projekt RED previously confirmed working on Cyberpunk 2. However, the release date for this sequel is quite a long wait. According to the studio’s statements, the return to the Cyberpunk universe is expected to happen around 2030. Therefore, new content for Night City seems unlikely for now.
