Larian Studios has revealed new statistics for Baldur’s Gate 3 based on player behaviors, choices, and surprising numbers related to overall play time.

After a very long anticipation, Baldur’s Gate 3 finally launched earlier this year and took a lot of attention from players. In fact, following its official PC launch, Baldur’s Gate 3 quickly became the highest rated PC game of all time on Metacritic just days after release and with a constant stream of hot fixes, larger updates, and impeding release on Xbox, the game doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
Their success also shown itself in the nominees of The Game Awards 2023. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been nominated for several categories, also stood it’s location at the Top 5 in the Player’s Choice category. Replayability is a major component of Baldur’s Gate 3 thanks to its branching narrative, major choices, and overall flexible playstyle based on a variety of different components like the player’s subclass. The game’s overall popularity has led to some surprising data and stats, which Larian Studios has finally shared with the community.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Playtime Numbers
In the new post from Larian Studios, they revealed tons of new data, stats, and other player choices broken down by numbers. In terms of average playtime, 1.3 million players have completed the game so far, with 94% of all players using a custom made character. The data also shows that Baldur’s Gate 3‘s Half-Elf Cleric known as Shadowheart is the most romanced character, with over 51% of players making it to the final act of her romance arc.
In terms of subclasses, the Berserker Barbarian is the most popular, followed by the College of Lore Bard and Tempest Domain Cleric. Finally, the total overall playtime for all players combined is 452,556,984 hours, or the equivalent of 51,662 years.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Player Choices
Larian also provided fans with some outlandish data alongside the more insightful numbers, such as an insane 8,196 years spent inside the character creator. For example, 14.4 million characters have been disintegrated into a pile of dust, while 1.2 million were compelled to dance against their will.

About 1.24 million Baldur’s Gate 3 players clearly angered a certain djinn during the Act 3 circus and ended up turning into a sentient wheel of cheese. For those who want to demonstrate their power, 30% of players also fully gave into their illithid side by Act 2.
The game’s Honour Mode was also highlighted, represented as the “ultimate” challenge in Baldur’s Gate 3. While certainly not meant for all players, some have taken the challenge, including a speedrunner known as Chronos.
