Bungie Said There Are Still Many Stories to Tell for Destiny
Destiny entered a period of uncertainty after Bungie announced earlier this year that it would end active development for Destiny 2. With the Monuments of Triumph update, it was thought that the game’s long journey was nearing its end, and the community began to put significant pressure for a new game. Now, Bungie is giving more hopeful messages about the future of the series, saying that there are other stories to be told in the Destiny universe.
New Games Open for Destiny
In a newly released video, Bungie studio head Poria Torkan and product head Josh Deane clearly stated that the Destiny universe is not over. The duo said they want to explore new worlds in the future and grow the series with different productions. This means the door is completely open for Destiny 3 or other projects.
The studio will also take steps on the Destiny 2 side to regain player trust. Plans include bringing back previously removed story missions, raid content, and areas. However, Bungie specifically emphasizes that seamlessly integrating content that was shelved years ago into the current game will not be easy and will take time.
Community demand is already quite strong. A petition for Destiny 3 development has surpassed 175,000 signatures, and when Destiny 2’s last major update was released, the number of concurrent players on Steam reached 130,000. This shows that player interest in the series hasn’t waned.
According to Bungie, bringing back old Destiny 2 content will only be the first step. The studio plans to share more information about both the restoration process and the long-term future of the Destiny brand in the coming months. The name or release date of the new game hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s now much clearer that Bungie doesn’t plan to completely abandon the series.
