Astral Ascent Switch Version 2 Appears in Taiwan

Astral Ascent is already playable on Switch 2 thanks to backward compatibility, but things seem to be getting a little more serious now. A new entry in the Taiwan Rating Board suggests that a separate version of the game for Nintendo Switch 2 is being prepared. H2 Interactive is listed as the publisher; the company previously released PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game.

Astral Ascent May Get a Separate Switch 2 Version

The new rating entry suggests that a special Switch 2 version of Astral Ascent may be on the way. However, there has been no official announcement from developer Hibernian Workshop or publisher H2 Interactive yet. Therefore, there is no confirmed information regarding a release date or special features for this version.

In terms of performance, there’s little reason to expect a huge leap. The game already runs quite well on Switch 2 with the current Switch version and isn’t particularly demanding in terms of hardware. Therefore, the main difference in the special edition might be more about content or platform-specific improvements rather than performance.

Another possibility is that the Switch version will approach the current content on PC. However, the main problem here is not the developer, but Nintendo’s approval processes for new versions. Therefore, it’s still unknown whether the Switch 2 version will bring all the latest content simultaneously.

A stronger possibility is that the announcement will be made along with new content updates. The developers previously confirmed they were planning a major announcement for the Triple-I Initiative. Therefore, it seems quite logical that the Astral Ascent Switch 2 version would be announced at that event. While the rating record is a strong indicator for now, it shouldn’t be considered a confirmed release until the official announcement.
