Is Pragmata’s New York Scene a Product of AI?
Pragmata has been a project that has attracted attention with its mysterious nature since its initial announcement. While a different detail is revealed in each new image, this time the atmosphere of the game is at the center of the discussion. The scene, particularly the one reminiscent of New York, which appears to be “generated by artificial intelligence,” has naturally raised questions among players. This is because the use of AI in the gaming industry has become a sensitive issue recently.
Pragmata Looks Like AI, But It Isn’t
Statements from the development team clarify this confusion. This scene in Pragmata is indeed not generated by artificial intelligence. On the contrary, it was entirely designed by the developers themselves. However, the interesting part is this: the team deliberately designed this section in this way to “feel like it was generated by AI.”
The striking details in this scene fully support this. We are presented with a world where the normal order is slightly disrupted. Vehicles embedded in the roads, buses emerging from walls, or objects defying gravity… all are deliberately placed. The aim is to give the viewer a feeling that “this is not real,” but at the same time, to do so without overdoing it.
The development team itself says that the most difficult part is this balance. If the world looks too normal, the concept gets lost; if it’s too strange, players might mistake it for a game mechanic or puzzle element. Therefore, the scene is kept on a fine line between reality and strangeness. This has actually been a more meticulous process than anticipated.
Pragmata is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. The planned release date is April 24, 2026. The fact that the demo has been downloaded by millions of people shows just how much anticipation there is. These kinds of creative ideas already suggest that the game will be talked about not only for its gameplay but also for its atmosphere.
